Hi and thanks for coming over to check out my series on ~ How to choose your Wedding Photographer~
I know how you are feeling at the moment...so many decisions to make, suppliers to see, deposits to pay, Wedding guest list to organise...it just goes on and on...hopefully i can help you out with part of your planning and make things flow a little better for you...
Part 1-Image quality/style
The quality of the photographers work should be one of the first things that you notice...photos that get your attention will be a good indication of what you can expect from that particular Wedding Photographer.
A good photographer will be able to capture both of your personalities as well as the emotion of the day and be able to show everyone what a great day it was for all involved.
Some photographers are heavy editors and some are not...you will see that my style is somewhere in the middle.
Of course some editing may be required to optimise the image but I keep it to a minimum and prefer to keep you both looking as natural and as beautiful as you undoubtedly are going to be on the day .
I also prefer a mix of relaxed, candid photos as well as the obligatory `posed` photos that still have a nice feel about them and don`t look too `setup`
Of course in the end it is up to your personnel taste...
Part 2-Do i really need to pay for a professional photographer..
Getting married is costly and can be expensive and unless you have just won the recent $150 mill Powerball you are going to have a budget that you need to stick to and i can understand the temptation to perhaps go for the cheaper option when choosing your photographer or you may even have a friend with an expensive camera that you could ask to do the job...
Just let me jump in here and be a little blunt...
~owning an expensive camera does not make you a good photographer , let alone a good Wedding photographer...
I have been contacted many times by distraught newlyweds asking me if i can fix their Wedding photos because Uncle Dave just didnt do it properly or the quality of their wedding photographer was not quite up to what they expected...
If you sit down and think about it ...once you are married , the ceremony is over, the reception finished and you have returned from your honeymoon and are back to work really all that you have left are your memories...and your photos...
The last thing you want to be is disappointed at the quality of your photos and perhaps regretting not spending that little bit extra
See you next week for part 3 in our series
Part 3-What to ask a Wedding Photographer
So you have looked at countless Wedding photos, been Googling almost non stop ,asking married friends and others for recommendations and have finally narrowed your potential photographers list down to three...phew !you have been busy.
Time to take a breath and have a bit of a think about what you are going to ask the photographer when you meet up with them.
*I highly recommend that you do meet up with with whoever you are considering to be your Wedding Photographer...after all you are going to be spending a lot of time together on the day and it is important that you feel comfortable with that person*
So for the sake of this discussion i will write this as though we are meeting and you are asking me your questions...oh and by the way it is always my shout for coffee when we meet...:)
You- Are you insured ?
Mezzino Photography- Yes, i have full public liability insurance through AAMI.
You-Do you require a deposit?
Mezzino Photography-Yes i do ask for a 50% deposit with the remaining balance to be paid a month prior to your Wedding..i also understand that you are probably paying out a number of deposits at this time and i am always happy to negotiate to help make things a little easier for you both.
You-Will you supply us with a contract.
Mezzino Photography-Yes , this is a very important part of our arrangement, the contract stipulates exactly what you can expect from me as your photographer as well as what i will need from you on the day in order to do my absolute best for you.
You-How long will i have to wait to get my photos?
Mezzino Photography-Usually around 4-5 weeks as per your contract although you can expect some ` sneek peeks` within a few days after your Wedding.
You-Will you be my photographer on the day?
Mezzino Photography-Yes , i am a solo operator and i will be your photographer on the day.
See you next week for more questions about what to ask your photographer :)
Ciao for now...!
Hey welcome back to Part 2 of
What to ask a Wedding Photographer.
You- What is included in your packages.?
Mezzino Photography- Every package is a little different and it pretty much all depends on what time frame suits you...
You can see my packages here and all are negotiable...
You- What sets you apart from other photographers...
Mezzino Photography- My passion, my attention to detail and my genuine love for each and every Wedding that i shoot and the desire to get it absolutely right for you with a minimum of hassle...
Even after all these years i still get a thrill out of the click of the shutter button and the anticipation of sending you a great set of images from your day...i put my heart and soul into each and every Wedding I shoot and i love it when my clients tell me how much they love their photos...
You- Are you familiar with our venue.?
Mezzino Photography- I have shot Weddings at many venues in and around Adelaide...if i am not familiar with your venue then i will always go there prior to your Wedding to look for the best photo opportunities ...this will help the day to run smoothly with less stress for you (and for me).
If you have time to come along and meet me at your venue to discuss any of your own photography ideas please do so...:)
You- What equipment do you use..?
Mezzino Photography- I use all Canon cameras and lenses...you will usually see me carrying 2 cameras on my shoulder holster- my choice of lens are the 24-105 (f2.8) and my 70-200 (f2.8)...theses 2 lenses allow me to get a whole range of different shots to give you a different perspective throughout the day..
Dont be afraid to meet your photographer armed with a list of questions similiar to these...it is always best to know exactly what you can expect on such an important day..
See you next Week for Part 4 in our series...
Ciao for now...!
